Riqueza (acumulación)

Wealth refers to the total amount of resources, such as property, financial assets and business ownership, that individuals, families or societies possess. It is often used as an indicator of prosperity and overall well-being. However, wealth is rarely distributed equally. Over time, through the process of wealth accumulation, assets grow and concentrate within certain families or social groups, reinforcing economic advantage for some while limiting opportunities for others. The german economist Karl Marx described capital accumulation as the process of reinvesting profits to generate more value, often through machinery, materials, and labor. This continuous cycle concentrates wealth in fewer hands, while the majority face declining economic power and limited access to resources. In short, wealth accumulation does not just reflect prosperity, it reproduces structural inequalities, entrenches privilege, and perpetuates disadvantage across generations.
