Transformación Socio-ecológica

Socio-ecological transformation is an approach that calls for profound social, economic, and cultural change in response to the climate crisis. This transformation must address key areas of our lives, including the economy, politics, society and the relationship with nature. The goal is to change the way we produce, consume and live in order to stay within planetary boundaries. Socio-ecological transformation is about more than just decarbonising and ‘greening’ the economy. It argues that technological solutions alone cannot solve the climate crisis, and that socio-ecological transformation must instead challenge the capitalist system, which relies on continuous growth and the exploitation of both nature and people. This requires reshaping social values, modes of production, and everyday practices. It also requires more democratic participation in decisions about how natural resources are used and shared. Real transformation therefore means more than just adjusting existing systems – it requires us to fundamentally rethink how societies organise life on this planet.
